Composer / Sound Designer
About CloudX
At CloudX we're building a new supply-side advertising platform for mobile publishers. We're convinced that an AI-native product will significantly advance the state of the art in mobile advertising. Our founding team previously built MoPub (acquired by Twitter for $350M) and MAX (acquired by AppLovin).
About the role
We're looking for a Composer and Sound Designer to own the audio layer on our sizzle reels and product walkthroughs. This is a contract role. You'll receive a detailed visual brief and sketch animation before you start, so you're scoring to actual pacing and visuals, not a runtime spec. The benchmark is audio that makes a product feel inevitable: tight UI sound design, original composition, and frame-level sync that elevates the animation rather than accompanying or overwhelming it.
What you'll do
- Compose original music for product sizzles and walkthroughs, ranging from 30 to 90 seconds
- Design UI and transition sound effects that sync to the animation at the frame level
- Receive the sketch animation before starting, so pacing is locked before you score
- Deliver uncompressed WAV stems at 48kHz/24-bit alongside the final mixed track so adjustments can be made without a full rescore
- Respond to consolidated written feedback per review cycle; this is an async-first team; we keep live sessions to a minimum
- Two revision rounds are included per deliverable; additional rounds are scoped separately
- Typical project timeline is three weeks from brief to final delivery:
- Week 1: Kickoff, creative direction, lo-fi timing pass
- Week 2: Sound brief, animation, sound delivery, revisions
- Week 3: Launch
Who you are
- Portfolio that includes original composition and sound design for product or tech videos, not just music licensing or brand spots
- Experience syncing audio to animation at the frame level; portfolio should include a piece where you can speak to a specific frame-level sync decision, not just the finished result
- Based in Western Europe (UK, Portugal, France, Germany, Netherlands or similar); the midpoint between our Bishkek and ET teams; timezone will be confirmed before shortlisting
- Async-first working style; all feedback is written and consolidated, few live sessions
- Able to deliver uncompressed WAV stems alongside final mixes for flexibility in post
While not required, we're particularly interested in candidates with experience scoring developer tools, SaaS products, or technical content where the sound design carries real information.
Include one example of product or tech audio you're proud of, and tell us one specific sync decision you made and why, along with a note on your timezone.
If shortlisted, we'll send a 15-second sketch and ask you to show us how you'd approach it.
