Marketing Lead

About CloudX

At CloudX we’re building a new supply-side advertising platform for mobile publishers. We’re convinced that an AI-native product will significantly advance the state of the art in mobile advertising. We recently raised a $30M Series A to bring this vision to life.

Our founding team previously built MoPub (acquired by Twitter for $350M) and MAX. Our platform combines verifiably fair auctions with an AI-native product experience to give publishers unprecedented control over their monetization strategy.

About The Team

Our Marketing function is small, distributed, and remote — in fact, you’ll be it. We have a strong ownership culture and rely primarily on asynchronous, written communication to stay aligned. We work in close partnership with Product, Business Development, and Partner Success, and we ship fast and talk about it publicly: technical blog posts, launch threads on X, product videos, and conference appearances. Everyone has access to the latest AI tools, but rather than generating vibe-slop we use them pragmatically — to move faster, automate the busywork, and spend our time on the work that matters. As our first marketing hire, you’ll have significant influence over how CloudX shows up in the world and the marketing culture we build around it.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role, and we expect it to stay that way: you’ll own the function end to end and work directly with the founders, with budget for agencies, freelancers, and tools rather than headcount. The role is remote within the US, with a strong preference for New York City, where you’ll be able to work in person with the founders at our office.

What you'll do

We’re looking for a Marketing Lead who thinks like a builder — a sharp storyteller with strong opinions about what good looks like, who’s as comfortable cutting a video as writing a launch post. You’ll work closely with the founders, Product, and GTM to make sure mobile publishers understand what we’ve built and why it matters. Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Positioning and narrative: own how CloudX is described, from the website to a sales deck to a single post on X. Turn deep technical differentiation — verifiably fair auctions, monetization as code, the CloudX agent — into a story publishers immediately get.
  • Sizzle reels and product video: produce the videos that show the product doing something impressive in under a minute. Script, storyboard, and direct them, cutting them yourself or with freelancers, and make sure every launch has one.
  • Website: own cloudx.io end to end, working with our Product Designer and shipping changes yourself when that’s the fastest path. Keep the site, social, and collateral consistent, current, and sharp.
  • Case studies: work with Partner Success to find the publishers whose results tell the story, get them on the record, and turn their numbers into case studies BD can close with.
  • Product launches: run every launch from start to finish. Partner with Product and Engineering on timing and messaging, produce the blog post, video, and social series, and make sure customers hear about what shipped and actually adopt it.
  • Events: decide which industry events are worth our time and money, and make them count: booths, speaking slots, dinners, and the follow-up that turns a conversation into a pipeline.
  • Customer advisory boards: build and run a customer advisory board of our most important publishers. Own the cadence, the agenda, and the loop back into Product so members see their input land.

Who you are

We encourage you to apply if you meet these requirements:

  • Builder mentality: you’ve run marketing at an early-stage B2B company, ideally as the first or only marketer. You can write the post, cut the video, ship the landing page, and set up the analytics without waiting on anyone.
  • Exceptional writer: you write clearly and persuasively about complex technical subjects for different audiences, including engineers, publisher executives, and the broader industry. Your writing has a point of view.
  • Technical fluency: you’re comfortable explaining SDKs, auctions, and bidding dynamics, and you can hold your own with engineers when working out how to describe what they built.
  • Metrics-driven: you know which numbers matter at each stage, you instrument what you run, and you kill things that don’t work.
  • AI forward: you use AI tools pragmatically — to move faster and automate the busywork — and you have a real sense for what current models can and can’t do.
  • Early-stage mentality: you understand that success at a startup takes grit and determination. You have good taste when it comes to trading off speed vs. polish. You don’t wait for permission; when you see a gap, you fill it.

While not required, we’re particularly interested in candidates with:

  • Adtech or mobile experience: you’ve marketed to mobile publishers or app developers, or worked at an ad network, exchange, SSP, or mediation platform, and you know the ecosystem’s players and pain points.
  • Developer marketing experience: you’ve marketed products where developers are the buyer or user — SDKs, APIs, infrastructure, developer platforms.
  • Video and design chops: you can produce a product video or a launch graphic to a standard you’re proud of.

In general, we’re looking for people with grit, passion, and talent. If you’re not sure this role is an exact fit, we encourage you to apply anyway. Many members of our team have had interesting career paths, and we relish the chance to work with extraordinary individuals.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary plus meaningful equity.
  • Comprehensive benefits package.
  • Flexible remote work within the US, with an office in New York City.
  • Opportunity to build the marketing function of an early-stage company from the ground up.
  • Direct collaboration with experienced founders who have previously built category-defining ad tech platforms.
  • Significant ownership and influence over how CloudX is seen by the industry.
